Motorcycle Safety Course (Ride with P.R.I.D.E)

Basic Rider Course (BRC) - A 15 hour program, which provides classroom and actual motorcycle operator training in a controlled, off-street environment. It was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) as a complete riding program for the beginning rider.

The BRC course provides beginning motorcyclists with the basic mental and physical riding skills necessary to minimize risk on the street. The BRC is taught by coaches that are MSF certified and is approved by New York State's Department of Motor Vehicles as an option to the motorcycle road test! The course fee for this class is $275.

Intermediate Riding Course (IRC) - This course is aimed towards students that have:

  • Successfully completed the Basic Riding Course (BRC) and would like extra riding time.
  • Completed all BRC exercises in the BRC but have decided they are not ready to take the skill evaluation for the RTW (Road Test Waiver)
  • Have their motorcycle endorsement and have completed the BRC thru Ride with P.R.I.D.E. Proof is required for either.

This class will offer road skills of swerving, braking, cornering and limited space maneuvering techniques. Total course time is 2-3 hours, depending to class size. The course fee for this class is $ 150.

Experienced Rider Course (ERC) - It was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Even if you've been riding for some time, there's always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the half-day (5-6 hours) Experienced Rider Course to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

You'll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. The Experienced Rider Course also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding.

The ERC Suite courses may qualify graduates for insurance premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers!

Your passenger can take the ERC with you. They will gain a better understanding of “why-you-do-what-you-do” while riding and learn techniques for riding more safely “two-up.”

The course fee for this class is $150.
